The Technical Challenge for bread week in Series 5 was Ciabatta! This is a super tricky bread to make as it has a high hydration percentage which makes it difficult to knead and shape. Be sure to add all the water in the recipe as this is what makes these big air bubbles in the Ciabatta!

GBBO Technical Challenge S51E1 - Cherry Cake
For the first technical challenge for the fifth series of Bake Off, the bakers had to make Marry Berryβs Cherry Cake. This challenge seems pretty simple however the main problem with the bake would be the distribution of the glace cherries in the cake. If the cherries are cut to small then they will dissolve into the cake mix and if they are not coated in flour they will sink to the bottom of the cake.
